Far out in space, there is a giant ball of glowing gas called the Sun.
The Sun is a star, and it's at the center of our solar system. It’s made mostly of two gases, hydrogen and helium.
The Sun gives off a lot of energy because inside it, the hydrogen atoms join together to make helium in a process called nuclear fusion.
This fusion releases light and heat, which travel all the way to Earth. The Sun’s energy helps plants grow, keeps Earth warm, and gives us daylight.
Without the Sun, there would be no life on Earth. So, every day, we feel the Sun’s warmth and see its light, reminding us just how important it is!
