Human Digestive System

The human digestive system is a complex network responsible for breaking down food, absorbing nutrients, and eliminating waste. It begins at the mouth cavity, where food is chewed and mixed with saliva, produced by the salivary glands, to aid digestion. The pharynx and oesophagus then help in moving food to the stomach. Here, food is further broken down before it passes to the small intestine, where most nutrient absorption occurs. The pancreas aids digestion by producing enzymes, while the liver and gall bladder assist by processing fats. The large intestine absorbs water, and the rectum and anus are responsible for waste elimination. Understanding each part’s role is essential for maintaining a healthy digestive system, ensuring your body gets the nutrients it needs. This lesson provides a deeper insight into the organs involved and helps students identify them in a labeled diagram.
